I just finished watching Game 7 of the NBA finals. I’m thinking about the significance of the night and what is takes to end up in the winners lockers room. Here are some thoughts. I would love to hear your feedback.
REST IN THE PLAN
At halftime I heard coach Phil Jackson say a powerful word, … “RELAX.” But Phil, it’s the NBA FINALS!!! …”I know, that’s why I need you to RELAX. Here, stare at my rings, they will comfort you.”
You know, sometimes, we need to change the plan, ditch the plan, or even find a new plan. Other times we just need to “RELAX” and REST in the plan.
HANDLE THE PRESSURE
Everyone handles pressure differently. Some force things, others disengage, many try to carry it themselves and do not handle it well. After the game Ron Artest thanked his therapist. I thought it was cool, because it reminded me that we ALL handle pressure the best, when we realize that we don’t have to handle it alone. If you’re in a season of crazy pressure, remember…..God has great people in your life. Don’t try to handle it alone. Isolation is the enemy’s playground.
KNOW HOW 2 PERFORM
Personally, I don’t feel the Lakers should have won. However, they knew how to perform where it mattered and they got the “W.” I would encourage everyone to always give their best in every area no matter what. You may not be scoring and you may even feel that all your effort isn’t going to get it done. Just remember, its the little things being done consistently that put you in the winners locker room. Kobe shot the ball terribly tonight, but he played great D and rebounded unbelievable – It was the difference. Leadership is not one dimensional.
KEEP PERFORMING in every area and you’ll end up in the right locker room.
